Wounded Warriors Veteran’s Day breakfast

On November 11, 2012, Galilei-George Washington Lodge 810A visited CASF USO to sponsor a special Veteran’s Day breakfast for 37 Wounded Warriors and deployed CASF Staff. The breakfast spread consisted of breakfast burritos, haggis, waffles with homemade strawberry syrup, bacon, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and various pastries. “I haven’t had real bacon in so long; this breakfast is the best I’ve had in a very long time!” As our service members helped themselves to breakfast, many thanked the members of Galilei-George Washington Lodge 810A for volunteering their time to bring a touch of home to them. In addition, another service member commented, “The USO has been here for me throughout my entire journey as I return to the United States. You all are truly amazing! Thank you for everything you have done for us during our extended stay here.” CASF USO Staff would like to thank our Wounded Warriors for their service and a Happy Veteran’s Day!

Blood Drive-19 Nov 2011

Our Lodge» Galilei George Washington 810A« had a most successful blood drive on Saturday the 19th of November 2011 at the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center (KMCC).

We had over sixty people sign-in and 42 were able to donate a pint of blood. The donations have the potential to save up to 126 lives. All of the blood collected will be used within the military community throughout Europe, Africa and Afghanistan. To explain how big this was: 42 pints is over 13% of monthly requirement for the(Armed Services Blood Program)ASBP. The Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) is very happy to have partnered with us for this event.

Many thanks to the following brothers for their time for this great event:
WM Dan Moermond
SD Derek Harris
JD Justin Camp
SW Jonathan Bailey
JW Robert Widrick
Bro. Paul Gillett
Bro. Giovanni Gironda
Bro. Ronnie Mitchell
A special thanks goes out to Shelly Liechti, Bro. Michael Liechti’s wife. She filled in for Bro. Michael because he had to work.

Because of the success of our first drive the Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) has asked if we would like to host another blood drive on 16 December. If a minimum of six brothers can commit throughout the day on 16 December we can book us for this rewarding opportunity. Our responsibility will once again be to help ASBP set-up their tables, solicit blood donations, sign-in donors, offer refreshments, and help tear-down when done. We will need about 4 people to help set-up and tear-down and 6 people throughout the drive. They will set up from 1000-1100, take donations from 1100-1600, and tear-down from 1600-1700. If you could assist, please RSVP soonest to WM, Sec, SW, or JW, so we can commit or decline the invitation. On that day, if you want to stop by for a short while, it would be greatly appreciated and also help us to spread the positive message of Masonry.
